Hi there!
I’m Caitlin, the heart and hands behind Honeyjunk. From my small home studio in Northwest Arkansas, I handmake small batch ceramic pottery. Making ceramics is a time consuming process involving lots of time, love and effort. Each piece is thrown on the pottery wheel, trimmed, bisque fired, glazed, glaze fired and sanded. Pieces with gold or mother-of-pearl go through a third firing, giving each item a unique personal touch.
My ceramics journey began in 2003- like a lot of people, in high school. For two years, I took a 2 hour class every Tuesday. I loved it, but found it hard to continue when I left home due to the cost of materials and equipment. Fast forward 20 years, and after decades of saying how I wanted to start throwing again, I just decided to do it and jumped in headfirst. A few days later I had a wheel, and a (very old) kiln a few weeks after that. It’s been a year now and my enthusiasm and love for pottery has only grown. Every spare moment is spent in my studio.
A lot of potters find their inspiration and creativity in throwing and building, but for me it’s all about the glazing process. I have trouble making more than 1 of anything, because there is always a huge list of new glaze experiments I want to try. The colors, the blending, the dripping- the options are endless. My hope is that in your home, Honeyjunk will be used and loved and bring a bit of colorful indulgence to your day.
